August
11, 2006 - a granddaughter of Warner Bundens Senior, sent
me this email. I'm hoping someone in the local area can help her!
Please reply directly to her email address found at the end of
her note>>> Hello, I am just looking over your website
looking for some family members that may still be in the area.
Warner D.(Doc) Bundens, Sr. was my grandfather and chief of police
for 35 years or so. My family moved to Salem county in the 1950's
after living in Mt. Royal, Clarksboro and Mickleton till then.
My grandmother made a dessert she called "cherry roly-poly"
and I haven't been able to find it anywhere and when she made
it I was too young to realize that I should get her recipe. I'm
trying to do up a family recipe book for my children and their
offspring. I used to think it was a German recipe since my great
grandparents maternally were owners of a bakery shop in Philly,
but I've come across something similar in old English recipes.
My grandfather's mother was of English heritage I gather, so it
may have come from her originally. They were Henry and Ellen Davenport
Bundens and lived in the area. If anyone in your area knows of
this recipe or know of any descendants of Christian and Rae Miller
of Clarksboro, I'd appreciate any help. Rae was my grandfather's
youngest sister and she may have a record of that recipe and others.
Sincerely, Loretta Rishel Smith in Efland, NC
[reply to: Sassco@embarqmail.com if you can help her].
[Also, please let me know when you help her, so I can delete this
notice].
